SUNDAY 11TH
PRAY: LIFT UP HOLY HANDS
1 Timothy 2:8, “I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”
There is something very spiritual about the lifting up of hands of the believer in prayer. It is an important physical representative of the spiritual position of the heart. In a lot of places in Scripture, we see repeatedly the connection between lifting up of hands, prayer and worship; please don’t dismiss this as trivial and irrelevant. It is an important spiritual sacrifice!
Psalm 141:1-2 (NIV), “I call to you, LORD, come quickly to me, hear me when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice”. The lifting up of your hands in prayers provokes speedy answers and attention. During your prayer and worship time, consciously programme yourself to lift up your hands. Nehemiah 8:6 tells us, “And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.”
I believe that God would have for His Church and His children to reawaken this act of prayer and worship in a greater and more intense dimension. Much more than ever before, let us begin to lift up our hands every time we pray. In this month of prayer, I believe with all my heart that you will record greater results and testimonies in Jesus mighty name.
FURTHER STUDY: Psalm 63: 4-5, “Thus will I bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hand in Thy name, (then) my soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips.”
CONFESSON: I BOLDLY CONFESS MY HANDS HAVE BEEN MADE HOLY BY THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST; GOD TAKES PLEASURE IN THE LIFTING OF MY HANDS IN PRAYER.
ACTION POINT: Spend time in prayer with the lifting up of hands.
