FRIDAY 2ND
WHAT IS PRAYER?
Mark 1:35(AMP), “And in the morning, long before daylight, He (Jesus) got up and went out to a deserted (quiet) place and there He prayed.”
Praise God, this is another beautiful day in our special month of prayer. IT IS OCTOBER! But wait a minute, what is prayer? I have come to discover that the simplest and most popular words are the ones which are usually most misunderstood.
Simply put; prayer is communication with God; nothing more, nothing less. From our anchor Scripture, we see another angle to prayer which I feel needs to be emphasized. Prayer is a relationship booster with God. Dear friend, prayer must not always be about requests and needs. True, continuous and heartfelt prayer strengthens your relationship with the Father and should be motivated by your love for God and fellowship with Him. Jesus looked for a quiet place free from human distractions because He wanted to fellowship with the Father.
Genesis 3:8 says, “And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord…” God has always desired to establish and maintain a beautiful relationship with mankind. True spirit-filled prayer affords us this opportunity. STOP HIDING, START PRAYING. Learn to minister to the Lord!
FURTHER STUDY: Acts 13:2-3, “And they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabbas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”
CONFESSION: I BOLDLY CONFESS, MY PRAYER MINISTERS TO THE LORD, MY PRAYER BRINGS ME INTO A CLOSE AND INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH PAPA GOD!
ACTION POINT: Use your prayer time to fellowship with God’s Spirit.
ONE YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN: John 2 – 4
