11th October #CelebrationRecap

SUNDAY 11TH OCTOBER

TOPIC: WINNING PRAYERS PART 3

Hallelujah, I believe with all my heart that testimonies have already started rolling in for you in this glorious month of prayer. EXPECT MORE GOOD NEWS!

1.0. WHY WE MUST PRAY
As God’s servant, the apostle over our commission Rev. Edward Olumese has always said, “A prayer less Christian is a powerless Christian.” Without prayer, a lot of things will never function as they ought to. For the following reasons, prayer is very important.

1. God has great plans for you but you must enforce it by praying:
Deuteronomy 2:24, “Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold , I have given unto your hand  Sihon the Amorite , king of Heshbon, and  his land. Begin to possess it, and engage him in battle.”

1 Corinthians 16:9, “For a great and effectual door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”

Prayer gives the believer the most needed opportunity to wage a war for the enforcement of God’s good work to him or her. (Mathew 1:12)

1 Timothy 1:18, “This charge I commit to you,  son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.”

2. To yield our flesh to God’s will in submission:
Until we locate ourselves in the center of God’s will, nothing works and we cannot submit to God’s will in the power of the flesh.

James 1:20“For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”

Your passion and desperation is too shallow to place you in the will of God: this is why you need to pray fervently.

Matthew 26:39“He (Jesus) went a little further and fell on His face, and prayed saying, O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless, not as I will , but  as you will.”

1. So, In prayer we deny our flesh and will for God’s will.
2. In prayer we receive strength to keep doing God’s thing and will.

Acts 4:31, “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled  with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

Revelation 3:8, “I know thy works: behold I have set before thee a open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

2.0. HOW TO PRAY  ERROR-PROOF PRAYERS

James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

When you pray in error, your prayer loses its potential. Are there scriptural safeguards that can keep us from praying in error?

1. Praying in the Spirit:

Romans 8:26-27, “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself  makes intercession for us with groaning  which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

Don’t despise praying in the Spirit, pray more in tongues. I Corinthians 14:14, “for if I pray in tongues, my spirit prays but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray in the Spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.”

Praying in the Spirit is the first kind of prayer every believer should pray.

2. Praying with thanksgiving:

1Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Thanksgiving will never be wrong! There are many things believers have already received yet they are still asking for the same things. No wonder they are not receiving. But when you pray, thanking God as though you have received, you will have them delivered!

3. Pray declaring God’s word:

The prayer of many is full of errors because they pray like beggars. This won’t work until you locate God’s word concerning the subject you are praying about. You must declare it back to God to provoke your change of story! Stop praying your casual words, start praying what He has said! (Hebrews 13:5-6, Isaiah 45:11, Hosea 14:2)

***Remember, we pray to:
a. Enforce God’s plan for our lives.
b. To yield our flesh to God’s will in submission.
