WEDNESDAY 4TH
SAVED FOR GOD’S PURPOSE
2 Timothy 1:9 (NIV), “He has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. The grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.”
Dr. Myles Munroe of blessed memory asserted that, “when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.” When we do not understand the purpose of our salvation, abuse is inevitable. An average Christian has a vague mentality that he or she is saved just to make heaven at last. If this was the total truth, then God would have sent us to Heaven in a flash as soon as we became born again.
What then is God’s purpose for your salvation? Romans 8:29-30, “For whom He did foreknew, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.”
Dear friend, the above Scripture is loaded with the answers you seek. God’s plan and purpose for your redemption is that you become conformed into the very image of Christ Jesus; to be holy and blameless before Him and also for your justification and glorification. You are saved in order that you might be brought into the surpassing riches of the ages to come. God’s grace has brought you into glory.
As beautiful as all these are, there is more! God’s purpose for your salvation stretches into your partnership with Him for the salvation of others. This is so important and cannot be over-emphasized! You are saved to become and evangelist! 2 Corinthians 5:18 says, “And all things are of God who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation…” Please note, this calling should not be seen as optional but indeed as very compulsory!
FURTHER STUDY: Ephesians 1:11(NIV), “In Him we were also chosen having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will.”
CONFESSION: I BOLDLY CONFESS, I HAVE BEEN SAVED UNTO GOD’S PURPOSE FOR MY GLORIFICATION AND MY ASSIGNMENT OF EVANGELISM. I LIVE MY LIFE FOR THE PLEASURE OF MY FATHER’S GLORY.
ACTION POINT: Live your life to please God, preach the gospel always by the power of the Holy Spirit.
ONE YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN: Matthew 25
